A FIRST IMPRESSION
At recreation park De Stille Wille in Meijel, rest and privacy are really central, the name says it all. This is a place where you feel like you're on vacation every day, surrounded by nature that invites you to slow down. The park itself offers nice facilities, such as a lit tennis court and a playground while in the forest directly behind the park a mountain bike trail winds for the sports enthusiasts.
The surroundings are ideally suited for long walks and cycling trips. You walk from the park straight into the forest, and even National Park De Groote Peel is only a half-hour walk away. Although the house is beautifully secluded in the countryside, right among the trees, the center of Meijel with a primary school, supermarkets, shops, restaurants and sports clubs is only a five-minute bike ride away. An ideal combination of nature, tranquility and daily amenities within easy reach.

WHEN YOU COME IN
Whether you enter through the front door or step through the double doors of the porch, you feel it immediately: this little house is alive. The smell of oiled wood, the soft light that streams in through the many windows, the warm atmosphere that wraps around you like a blanket.
PEEP IN THE KITCHEN
You are immediately in the beautiful living kitchen: the beating heart of this Swedish house. Here, a sturdy Boretti stove awaits you with four electric burners and a double oven that invite you to prepare elaborate dinners or fragrant baked dishes. The terrazzo countertop feels cool and luxurious while the black-and-white tiled sink gives a wink to nostalgic simplicity. Everywhere, practical cabinets are ready to be filled with dishes and kitchenware.
At the large dining table, you effortlessly picture a long evening: candlelight, warm dishes, your family or friends around you. And when you open the rear sliding doors, the garden almost flows in by itself.
And then there's that smart built-in cabinet next to the front door. A place where the laundry combination and the meter cabinet are discreetly hidden behind sliding doors. The lighting throughout the house is controlled via Philips Hue, allowing you to switch from a fresh morning light to a warm evening ambiance with just one button press. Every moment gets its own light here.
SLEEPING ROOMS
Further into the house are two equivalent bedrooms, both light, warm and cozy. The window frames with rotating shutters let you choose between fresh air or complete silence. The wooden shutters on the outside provide a soft, rural contrast and ensure that you can darken the rooms in an instant: pleasant during warm summer days or indeed for a deep, quiet night.
VIEW THE BATHROOM
The bathroom is compact but well-equipped with a comfortable shower cabin, toilet and sink, all finished with attention to detail. The vinyl floor feels practical and warm at the same time and is water-resistant, which is nice for daily use.
ARE YOU COMING OUT TO LOOK?
Around the house, a garden stretches out that feels as if it is slowly merging into the forest. Here, no strict lines but a place where you let nature take its course and move with it. A garden that lives, grows, rustles and buzzes with small discoveries.
The basis for a permaculture garden has already been laid: two large hummus containers filled with rich compost soil are ready. Further ahead, native plants have been sown alternating with mosses. Many birds, insects and other animals find their way through all this greenery and have long since decided that this is their new favorite spot.
All the way in the back of the garden, leaves swirl around the blackberry bushes from which you pick the ripe fruit in summer. They form a natural barrier that is also very suitable for creating, for example, a wooden fence.
And then that side porch... A place to wake up with your first cup of coffee, while the soft morning light filters through the trees. Or perhaps in the evenings, wrapped in a blanket, listening to the silence of nature breathe.
As a final touch, there is a charging point on your own parking space for your electric car. Discreetly present but precisely matching the sustainable idea of this place.
WHAT SELLERS WOULD RATHER DO WITHOUT
After some searching, we found the location where we, as retirees, would like to stay and recreate. This place is located on the recreational park De Stille Wille. The name De Stille Wille comes from Frisian. 'Stille' refers to peace, tranquility, living in silence. 'Wille' stands for pleasure or contentment. Just the name alone describes our wish. A vacation in one's own country with Swedish calm.
In 2024 we started with the construction of our tiny vacation house with a Swedish ambiance. Compact but with the atmosphere we desired. In the garden, we started laying out a food garden based on permaculture principles. The soil improvement is in its first phase, and the birds, frogs, and butterflies have already found their way. The rainwater flows into a swale, and sitting in the corner of the 500 m2 large plot is a true delight.
Another favorite spot is the veranda; calm, quiet and peaceful. From the veranda you enter the living kitchen here we have a electric Boretti stove, consisting of 4 cooking zones and 2 ovens. Connected with three-phase power to use the cooking zones and both ovens simultaneously. The kitchen unit consists of a dresser made of real wood by “de Heldense”. On this dresser lies a custom-made kitchen countertop of terrazzo with a black and white checkered sink basin and provided with a matching classic-looking faucet. The place where we like to cook.
The kitchen table is a large wooden 6-person table with white chairs and benches. The Hue lighting system illuminates the table in all desired colors and moods. The lamp consists of a birch branch and fishing line with 3 light points surrounded by wicker baskets. A kitchen cabinet from the twenties completes the picture.
A few years ago, we were introduced to permaculture. This philosophy lies at the basis of the development of our garden. But it also means that there are still plenty of possibilities to design the garden according to your own taste. In short, the place does justice to the name Stille Wille; 365 days of ultimate holiday feeling. A place to love and with countless possibilities, the tiny house and garden can be further developed and designed according to your own insights.
